ARRL Field Day 2024

The Club will set up operations in Penn Forest Recreational Park on 903 on June 22nd with one HF transmitter and one VHF transmitter. Field Day is a chance for amateur radio operaters to set up and operate remote stations. The event starts at 2 PM and ends on Sunday at 5 PM.  In 2023, we made 168 contacts and achieved a score of 620. We are looking to 2024 for an even better score.

If you are amateur radio operator or are interested in learning more about ham radio, stop by.  We would be happy to meet you and answer  any questions you have.

O

On August 4, 2023, Karl Verren, KN6CW passed away after a long illness.  He was a former president of the club and gave it a shot of increased enthusiasm and purpose. Our condolences go out to his wife, Tatiana in this difficult time.

On September 30, 2023, Rob Roomberg, a long time club member, died suddenly. He was an inveterate tinkerer and was one of the members who kept the Club going through some lean times, including some significant financial assistance.  His obituary, which contains many details of his family and life can be found here.

We have replaced our old antenna and put up a new OCF dipole and during its initial operation we made two contacts in Russia outside Moscow. We plan some additional fine tuning of that antenna and are working on the selection of a second antenna. Once the radio room is complete, we will post pictures! Stay tuned...

In October we expect the club to participate in the PA QSO Party! RSVP on the club calendar page.
